Marks & Spencer don’t produce whey protein but if they did, I bet it would look exactly like BULK POWDERS Informed Whey!

This isn’t just any whey protein powder, this the finest, artisan whey, carefully crafted with the very finest ingredients.

BULK POWDERS claim their goal was to: “Ignore the costs and just create the very best whey protein possible.”

To do so they took their proven whey protein template and juiced it up with more, higher quality protein, extra BCAAs, a scattering of probiotics and some digestive enzymes to help your stomach get to work.

So, have they managed it or does it fall short?

          Active Ingredients

mTOR Whey Complex™ (Pure Whey Isolate™ 90, Pure Whey Protein™, Leucine), Glutamine Peptides, Fat Reduced Cocoa Powder (Chocolate flavour only), Flavouring, Natural Colouring (Beetroot Red – Strawberry flavour only), Instantising Agent (Soya Lecithin), Thickener (Xanthan Gum), Acid (Citric Acid), DigeZyme® Enzyme Complex (Amylase, Protease, Cellulase, Lactase, Lipase), Sweetener (Sucralose), LactoSpore® Probiotics (Bacillus Coagulans).

          Effectiveness

BULK POWDERS Informed Whey mixed really easily with very little clumping after a little mixing. Flavours include Double Chocolate, Chocolate Hazlenut Biscuit, Salted Caramel & Walnut, Strawberries & Cream and Vanilla Bean.

See what I mean about it being the Marks & Spencer of whey?

I chose the Double Chocolate variety which was super rich and actually really nice!

Strangely, there’s no unflavoured option. Maybe that’s BULK POWDERS way of telling you that they don’t want you mixing Informed Whey with anything else?

Each 30g scoop is packed with 24g of mTOR Whey Complex, which is a mix of multiple protein sources, Leucine, Glutamine Peptides, DigeZine (an enzyme complex) and LactoSpore (a probiotic).

All in, you’re looking at an 81 percent protein content, which stacks up really well against premium competition.

Alongside the protein complex, there’s a large dose of amino acid glutamine peptides and a mix of five digestive enzymes. It’s difficult to gauge the effectiveness of the amino acid but the enzymes definitely made for an easier digestion!

          Value

At £21 per kilo, Informed Whey is definitely going after a more serious (or more moneyed) lifter.

My main gripe is that Informed Whey comes in one massive size (2.27kg!) and it costs an unbelievable £47.99. It’d be nice to have smaller tub to try out before deciding whether to buy in bulk.

          Verdict

If you’re looking for a fancy protein supplement that tries to be something more than a protein source, BULK POWDERS Informed Whey is worth a look.

It mixes well, tastes great and I can’t fault the ingredients. All you have to do is justify dropping £47.99 on a powder you’ve never tried!
